Urban Realm builds bridges with a summer infrastructure focus
July 1 2025
This summer Urban Realm takes a close look at the role architects play in bridge design with a look at some of the finest recent examples to ease our paths from A to B. From the Renfrew Bridge over the River Clyde to the Gairnshiel Bridge on Deeside, we look at how bridge design is being utilised as a regeneration shortcut by hugging communities close.

Behind the headlines, we look at some lesser-known sights, among them Stenhouse Mansion in Slateford. Hidden from view behind a petrol filling station, this 16th-century mansion is one of the most incongruous sights in Edinburgh and tells a fascinating tale of endurance.
Keeping our feet firmly planted on the ground, we present our second big study of the summer on landscape architecture. We examine how increased biodiversity can keep us sane and healthy amidst the excesses of an increasingly digital world.
There's plenty to talk about, so join the conversation by subscribing to Urban Realm magazine today.
