Low carbon mews to complete a New Town street

Revamped plans for an infill mews development at 15 South East Cumberland Street Lane have been lodged with Edinburgh planners.

Arka Architects has drawn up plans for a new build three bedroom property with an integrated garage to serve as a family home. Opting to renew a prior consent for the central New Town address the applicant has drawn inspiration from a modern mews design at number 18 to complete the street.

In their materials statement, Arka wrote: "Coursed ashlar sandstone and slate roof has been specified as the predominant materials in order to adhere to clear material guidance set out in the Edinburgh City Plan 2030 and Old and New Town World Heritage Plan."

This will be augmented by a charred cedar garage door with the white render rear facade opening onto a lower single-storey element with large format glazing and projecting eaves.

All new build is relatively high in carbon pollution so the headline is relatively disingenuous.

Is anyone working on any projects tag lined as high carbon?

All very meaningless as no proper accounting of resource depletion and pollution in real world terms in a country full of derelict buildings.
