Irvine office pavilion to bring biological sciences to life

Clark Contracts and CRGP Architects have unveiled a newly built office pavilion at Annickbank Innovation Campus, Irvine.

Commissioned by North Ayrshire Council the 350sq/m building will attract small businesses specialising in the life sciences sector to the strategic development area.

Adhering to the red/brown brick and zinc cladding template laid down by earlier development in the vicinity the latest addition to the campus will lead to further phases of growth.

In a planning statement outlining the intent behind the build, CRGP wrote: "The materiality and architecture of the building seeks to be in keeping with the overall character of the site by adopting complementary materials that echo those of the existing pavilions. However, the design ultimately endeavours to provide a sense of uniqueness and identity, serving as a precedent for future development on the site.

"We believe this will then lead to a varied, architecturally interesting series of pavilions that will enhance the Innovation Campus’s appeal to future tenants and businesses."

The building reduced its embodied carbon cost by making use of recycled material for its foundations and has been accredited with an EPC A+ rating.

There needs to be an award for the most cringe, boak inducing, planning statement jive from Architects. Suspect there would be infinitely more candidates that for the design prizes.
Do you guys have any insight!?
