Romantic ruin is set to become a wedding venue

Full planning consent has been awarded for the restoration, refurbishment and extension of a forgotten 17th-century house, once a summer home for the Bishops of Glasgow, into a wedding venue.

Currently languishing on the Buildings at Risk Register the B-listed Garrion Tower near Wishaw is set for a fairytale ending after being acquired by local entrepreneur Nicole Rudder for its commercial role.

Project lead for Block Architects, Bruce Scotland said: “Block Architects are overjoyed to have been granted Listed Building Consent and Full Planning Permission to transform Garrion Tower in North Lanarkshire as a high-end wedding venue and restaurant."

Permissions allow for two new build extensions on either side of the main house to provide additional accommodation including a function hall and champagne bar.

Defined by large volumes of glazing and screened by vertical timber fins these modern additions will offer unrestricted countryside views.

Great news for all involved, but especially Project Lead Bruce Scotland who played a blinder here and really is Garrion. Looking forward to booking my granddaughter's wedding there in the future.
