8,500-capacity arena to lead Edinburgh Park's leisure transformation

Edinburgh Park's diversification from commercial space to homes and leisure has taken a major step forward with the submission of plans for an 8,500-capacity arena.

Edinburgh Park Arena by AEG Europe and HOK will introduce live sports and entertainment to the business district with an 18,500 sqm venue on brownfield land.

Complementing a mixed-use masterplan for the area led by Parabola the arena would host mid-scale events with a reconfigurable main hall able to accommodate a variety of shows.

Alistair Wood, executive vice president of real estate & development for AEG Europe, said: “It’s been fantastic to see such strong support for our plans, and therefore we are hopeful for a swift and clear decision following our planning application.

“If we were able to secure planning permission, our focus would then immediately turn to identifying a building contractor and naming rights partner to bring this exciting project to life on site.”

Defined by a punched bronze metal facade the distinctive space will push landscaping onto its facade to accommodate an open circulation and gathering space.
