Rural affordable housing given a boost in Stirlingshire

Moves to expand the provision of rural affordable housing in Stirlingshire are in progress with the delivery of 14 properties at Croftamie.

Buchanan Crescent is being delivered by the JR Group, Rural Stirling Housing Association and Collective Architecture and will deliver a mix of cottage flats and houses for social rent.

Emphasising energy efficiency the properties will feature air source heat pumps to keep a lid on fuel costs.

Gary McGregor, managing director for The JR Group, said: “The housetypes we are developing address the requirement for smaller sized, affordable housing in the area.”

Budgeted at £3.5m the scheme is being funded by the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme.

Build costs would appear to be a bit on the high side -- £250K per unit is just so much social and private sector welfare.
