Tranent town centre scheme broadens housing mix

Tranent town centre will soon receive 28 energy efficient homes as work gets underway on a mix of mainstream and specialised flats and houses.

Located off Church Street, a conservation area, the homes occupy the grounds of the former Fa’side Lodge Nursing Home and will be delivered by the JR Group with Assist Design and David Narro Associates.

Andrew Dallas, project director for The JR Group, said: “The design of the development is very much in-keeping with the general character of the area and we have worked with our client to ensure the homes are light, modern, energy-efficient and fit for the future.

“We are thrilled to help bring this area back into use and work with the Council to deliver much-needed housing to the centre of town. We look forward to progressing this development in the coming weeks and months.”

All homes will be fully electric, eliminating reliance on gas, as part of the council's local housing strategy.
