Brownfield Torry terraces to meet affordable housing need

MLP Homes with Grant Murray Architects are leading plans to build 20 affordable homes on the site of a former nursery at Oscar Road, Torry.
To be managed by Hillcrest Homes the mix of houses and flats are arranged as a three-sided court, fronting a landscaped amenity court and car park.
In a planning statement, the architects wrote: "Terraces have been utilised throughout with the main focus on a strong single terrace the length of the site...
"On the long main terrace, the feature gables of properties to Grampian Place have been reinterpreted into a row of contemporary feature gables...
"On the shorter return blocks closest to Oscar Road, these gables have been incorporated into the roof to give the impression of wall dormers."
Concrete facing brick has been chosen as a nod to the defining granite character of Aberdeen, broken up by elements of terracotta rainscreen cladding.
Elevated balconies will provide views across the city
Living rooms are pushed to the upper floors
