Rothesay engagement hub to deliver council services

Ryder Architecture has taken the helm of plans to transform a vacant C-listed former bank in Rothesay into an 'engagement hub' for the delivery of council services.

Acting for Argyll and Bute Council the practice will repurpose a town centre unit at 33-37 Victoria Street for the role, retaining the classical Victorian tenement proportions while fashioning a range of reception and meeting spaces.

In a proposal statement, Ryder wrote: "The place-based review for Rothesay identified the need for a new engagement hub in a prominent, easily accessible town centre location to deliver front-of-house Argyll and Bute Council services.

"The design proposals involve the opening up of the former reception area to improve flow and accessibility, and the provision of a series of internal meeting and interview rooms."

No interior heritage features have survived at the property.
