Five finalists have been shortlisted for the 3DReid Student Prize, the annual hunt for Part II architecture students demonstrating impact, innovation and communication in their work.
Those shortlisted include Julia Lauri De Funes of Leicester School of Architecture for A Ballet of Land, Sea and Life through Architecture; a bid to marry architecture and nature to address flooding challenges at a historic fishing town in Malaga, Spain.
Also in contention is Eloise Collier of Oxford Brookes who won credit for S-CAM Station, a reaction against over-consumption, social media, influencers and extreme capitalism which skews our built environment to favour the rich.
Eleanor Harding of the London School of Architecture was recognised for Nobody Wants to Live in a Care Home, a self-explanatory critique of the parallel housing crisis impacting the oldest in society by adapting architecture to better respond to the spatial confusion arising from Alzheimer's.
Warren D'Souza of the University of Bath made the shortlist for Threads of Time, a project to reconnect the city of Udaipur with its roots in the textile industry through the creation of workshops, spaces for weaving and a library.
Beatrice Ryan of the University of Dundee also made the grade with Growing Beyond Trauma, a bid to narrow gender data gaps during times of trauma, harnessing architecture as a tool to encourage healing in women through agriculture.
The winner will be revealed on 3 August.
