Urban Realm shares winners and wonders

Urban Realm fires up for the summer as we mark the hottest projects of the year with the Scottish Design Awards in our latest issue.

The celebration of creativity was equal parts raucous, loud and inspirational and we convey a portion of that experience here with a recap of all the winners.

Similarly, we return for our in-depth look at the world of landscape architecture where a recruitment crisis threatens to apply the breaks on recent progress. We speak to those in the know to see how it can be put right.

Out on the road we travel south to visit Eyemouth Pavilions, a nautically inspired harbourfront addition that aims to ensure the town isn’t left all at sea amidst a rapidly changing economic landscape. Another fast-developing subject which promises/threatens to upend all that we know is artificial intelligence, an emerging broad-spectrum system for drawing upon the collective body of information now stored online.

The adoption of National Planning Framework 4 provides the meat of this issue as we explore the ramifications of radical reductions in carbon emissions on future development and infrastructure. Focussing on the implications for visualisation and the creative gene especially, we see what the future might hold.

Subscribe today for a cracking read that shares all this and more.
