Stonehaven Lifeboat Station set for a new home

Stonehaven is set fair for a new lifeboat station with the submission of plans by James F. Stephen Architect on behalf of the RNLI.

The former home of the Maritime Rescue Institute on the Old Pier has been chosen for the new station, with much of the necessary infrastructure already in place.

Renovations are needed to ensure the building is fit for purpose however, including a replacement roof, rear extension and a new boathall door, offering a significant step-up from the existing lifeboat station - which operates from a past its sell by date portacabin.

In addition to providing a more comfortable and practical environment for crew and casualties the works will open up the ENLI station to visitors through an education experience and shop.

A fundraising campaign to help raise £50k toward the £900k capital cost of the project is underway having raised 20% of its target.
