Detailed plans to boost the provision of care accommodation at Greenlaw Mains, Midlothian, have been filed by Holmes Miller.

The practice is working with Morrison Community Care Group and CCG to provide 54 beds in an area of suburban expansion, including a small shop to serve the broader community.

The L-plan facility provides two wings of accommodation linked by communal facilities and a main entrance where both arms meet.

In a planning statement, the architects wrote: "The main arrival space is generous in size, and offers a clear line of sight through the large full-height windows to the terrace beyond. A visitor cafe will also be provided in this area, offering a hub of activity that residents and visitors can utilise."

Finished in buff brick with south-facing balconies to upper floors the property has been reduced in size to pull it back further from the shop.
