Clydesdale horses return to Pollok Stables

Proposals to restore and redevelop an A-listed stable and sawmill in Pollok Country Park have been shared by Glasgow City Council.

The local authority intends to transform the modest building into a 'living' heritage centre as part of moves to reintroduce Clydesdale horses to the park.

Retaining the essence of the existing water-powered structure, the net-zero carbon visitor hub will include a cafe, shop, education and meeting facilities. Work to date by contractor City Property, with Reigart, Narro Associates and Page\Park Architects, has seen loose stones carefully numbered and removed in readiness for the reconstruction. This includes the majority of a dangerous roof, including a decorative cupola.

More detail on Pollok Stables will be shared at a drop-in session planned for 18 April between 12:00 and 19:00 at Pollokshaws Library and a follow-up event on 25 April between 10:00 and 19:00 at Pollok Civic Realm.

Page\Park always impress and this seems like right up their street given their recent portfolio. Fantastic to see!
