BDP has opened the doors to a new community hub in North Lanarkshire, home to Newmains and St Brigid’s Primaries and the Newmains Family Learning Centre.

Accessible to both pupils and the community Newmains & St Brigid’s Community Hub is designed as a radial array of inter linked teaching wings, each opening onto a central shared space suitable for a variety of uses.

Structural timber classrooms open directly onto shared grounds, which include a tree house, dens and trails.

Brad Morrison, Architect at BDP, said: “School is a place for learning, but it’s also a place for children to embrace their youth and make life-long memories. That ethos really comes through in the design of Newmains & St Brigid’s iconic features such as the helical slide that wraps around a statement figurative tree in the shared central space.”

Delivered with Hub South West Scotland on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council the project team includes M&E engineers, Wallace Whittle, Blyth and Blyth and BAM Construction.
