Construction begins on £5.2m Galashiels Transport Interchange
Construction work has begun on a £5.2m transport interchange at Galashiels to connect the Borders Railway to a new bus station in the town centre after funds were secured from the European Regional Development Fund.

Delivered by Morrison Construction works entail the re-routing of roads, public realm enhancements and improvements to the riverside walkway.

Council leader David Parker commented: “The Transport Interchange will be a landmark building for Borderers and visitors travelling to and from the Borders Railway next year. Its connection to the new bus station ties into the Council’s long term aim to promote better connections between all means of sustainable transport.”

Designed by D5 Architects and Buro Happold the scheme will see direct rail services to Edinburgh commence from 2015.
