Work commences on Townhead Village Hall

Work commences on Townhead Village Hall
A turf cutting ceremony will take place today to mark the construction of Townhead Village Hall – a £2.1m community hub in Glasgow city centre.

Designed by Archial, with CCG acting as main contractor, the facility will offer a large activities hall, learning space, nursery, meeting rooms, offices and an open plan café for use by local residents.

These spaces will be managed by the local community to improve the lives of those living in the popular 1960’s estate.

Councillor Gordon Matheson said. “I am very excited that this new hall will at last be built after all the efforts of the local community and partner organisations. It will make a big difference to the lives of the local people and I thank everyone involved”.

The Hall should open its doors to the public early next year.

'Who's the dodgy-looking floating geezer with the brolly?'

I believe it's Father Seamus O'Bannion - the local exorcist.

I think it is about time that the Government launched significant economic / social support and conservation scheme to roofing engineers across Scotland. Every new build architectural design the past couple of years has been flat roof (non roof), driving the poor blighters to extinction!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the endless re-cladding of the Townhead High Flats they must have clad and re-clad two or three times now. What in Falkirk is going on?

You've got to be pretty tall to make use of that bouldering wall.

ps. Good to see a realistic rendering - at least regarding the lack of use of the bike racks. What a waste of money they are - good for a BREEAM point tho.
