Ayr cathedral works progress
Work to transform Ayr’s redundant Cathedral into new housing is in full swing with Ayrshire Housing on site at the rebuild.

Contractors Ashleigh are remodelling the interior of the historic structure in order to accommodate 25 new homes for rent behind the retained east gable and tower of the C listed building.

A new build housing estate will be constructed in land to the rear, designed to respect the existing cathedral with the use of red brick and red tile roofs.

Ayr based ARPL architects will handle the conversion after winning a limited architectural competition.

The project is scheduled to complete in November

It's heart-warming to see another one of these nut houses finally being put to good use.
