Auchinleck assisted living project goes out to consultation

Mast Architects have launched a public consultation concerning the planned delivery of seven assisted living flats at Quarry Knowe, Auchinleck.

East Ayrshire Council has appointed Mast, together with CCG, Indev Consult and MBLA Design, to oversee the venture, a replacement for two blocks of flats which have already been demolished.

Indicative plans call for a new build block aligned with existing homes while establishing a strong frontage to the street and addressing the corner plot.

Robert McCulloch, interim head of housing and communities, said: “The development proposed for Quarryknowe will enable residents to live independently and safely in the local community, with support from health and social care services, in an environment that promotes social interaction. The concept for this development has been informed by collaborative working between the council’s housing service and East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership."

Interested parties are invited to complete an online questionnaire before Friday to inform further refinement of the design.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't public consultations be done before designed are developed this far? Yet another architect and developer paying lip-service to the process...
