Accoya's a-comin'

June 17 2008

BSW Timber will launch their new Accoya wood product at a one-day seminar hosted bu the Lighthouse on 25 June.

The seminar, "Wood Modification: Architecture and Construction Opportunities" is aimed at architects, consulting and structural engineers, housing associations, developers and house-builders, and has been organised by Napier University's Centre for Timber Engineering.

Two heavy traffic road bridges at the city of Sneek in the Netherlands constructed from Accoya, will be highlighted at the seminar. Haiko Maijer, the architect behind the bridges, which have a span of more than 30 metres and an 80-year design life, will discuss the project.

Commercial production of Accoya began last year at a new 30,000 m3 plant at Arnhem, Netherlands. BSW signed an exclusive agreement with Titan Wood to be the sole supplier of Accoya across the UK and Ireland.
