Glasgow signage to undergo revamp
August 29 2007
Glasgow’s central signage and wayfinding system is to undergo a revamp designed to encourage more visitors to explore the city on foot.
Appointed by Glasgow City Council, outdoor advertising contractor Clear Channel engaged Lacock Gullam and Applied Information Group (AIG) to work on the project, which saw AIG spend three months researching the character and layout of the city.
The two agencies devised an outline for the project and are now looking to implement their strategy, which includes 200 information panels with maps and finger posts adapted to suit different locations within the city.
Glasgow City Council awarded the outdoor advertising contract to Clear Channel last month following a creative strategic pitch. AIG and Lacock Gullam were appointed based on their previous work with Clear on the Bristol Legible City initiative.
