Stirling council signs over land to URC in landmark deal

August 8 2007

Following 18 months of negotiations, the Raploch Urban Regeneration Company (URC) and Stirling Council have struck a deal that will see URC take over full ownership of 62 acres of land earmarked for future development.

The deal is thought to be the first of its kind in Scotland and will enable the R3 house-building consortium of George Wimpey and Cruden Homes to begin developing the area.

Raploch chief executive, Bob Laverty, said: "Completing this deal required foresight, vision and trust and thanks to an abundance of all three from everyone concerned we're now able to begin delivering the business plan to the agreed timeframe. We are a significant step closer to giving the people of Raploch the surroundings and facilities they deserve."
