Civic Trust names Notre Dame Primary as Best Scottish project

March 11 2014Notre Dame Primary School, Dowanhill, as the best project in Scotland at the Civic Trust Awards 2014 in a special category supported by the City of Edinburgh Council and Glasgow City Council.
Created by GCC’s project management and design team the £15m project saw extension of the existing C-listed Dowanhill Primary with a terracotta rain screen clad block housing a nursery, assembly-dining-drama hall, library, games hall and conference room, plus kitchen, changing rooms and plant space.
Malcolm Hankey, managing director for the awards, said “Projects are assessed on their architectural excellence, sustainability credentials, accessibility for all users and positive civic contribution. Once again, the judging process has been rigorous and all the winners thoroughly deserve their success.”
A total of 79 projects from 238 applications were credited at the annual bash.
