The feasibility study has been drawn up in collaboration with tourism and business experts to improve public access and understanding of the engineering landmark.
Two options have been drawn up for the scheme, the first entailing construction of a reception centre at South Queensferry leading to an exposed bridge walk to the top of the south tower.
An alternative solution is for a more substantial visitor centre at the base of the Fife Tower in North Queensferry, giving access via a hoist to a viewing deck at the bridge’s summit.
