Georgian terrace to up its game on Blythswood Square

A former bank at Blythswood Square is to court a new generation of office workers with plans for a rooftop extension and outdoor amenity space.

Xafinity Pension Trustees, owners of 14 Blythswood Square, aim to overhaul the B-listed building by replacing the existing curtain wall and improving amenities to remain attractive to tenants.

In a design statement, 3DReid noted: "The extension’s massing is kept deliberately modest to remain subservient to the host building. Materials have been selected to respect and complement the historic setting while providing a contemporary contrast in a sensitive matter."

Maintaining the character of the Georgian terrace works will be discreet in nature with new additions including a zinc roof, loft studio and glazed balustrade recessed behind the principal elevation. A new curtain wall will be a like-for-like replacement of the existing stairwell facade.
