£7.3m Bellsmyre build gets off the ground

The latest phase of the regeneration of Bellsmyre, West Dunbartonshire, has begun with the construction of 27 homes for social rent on Whiteford Avenue.

Caledonia Housing Association is leading the £7.3m project, to be delivered by CCG and ECD Architects, comprising a mix of houses and cottage flats with priority allocation given to tenants affected by demolition.

CCG managing director, David Wylie, said: “Through the use of our advanced construction methods and low-carbon heating technologies, these new homes will not only address localised housing needs, but they will also help to tackle fuel poverty and positively impact the environment."

Over the next five years, the housing association will replace 264 flats with 138 more energy-efficient properties and new green spaces.

The first phase homes are expected to be completed by spring 2026 and have been supported by a £4.4m Scottish government grant.
