Performing arts institute finds its feet in Livingston

The Scottish Institute of Theatre, Dance, Film & Television (The SI), formerly known as the MGA Academy of Performing Arts, has relocated to a former office building in Livingston.

Now under the ownership of Silver Rock Studios The SI, founded in 2011, has undergone a complete rebrand to reflect its growth, including the capacity to cater to international students for the first time.

The former Barbara Ritchie House at Almondvale Business Park has been remodelled to accommodate this growth with open-plan floorplates lending themselves to a change of use to rehearsal studios and associated changing rooms.

Andy Egan, president and CEO of The SI, says: “The institute is built on the academy’s reputation and our roots in Edinburgh. This pivotal expansion further marks our commitment to fostering an environment where creativity, learning, and professional development take centre stage.

"We are delighted to open our new campus to international students this year, and introduce our faculty of experienced and talented professors to new students. As we invite our students to our new, state-of-the-art Livingston campus we aspire to nurture a hub that champions creativity, entrepreneurship, and learning to inspire the next generation of talent.”

The site falls within Livingston town centre as defined by the West Lothian Local Development Plan.
