Tiree holiday home pushes the boat out

Initial thoughts for a distinctive holiday home, boathouse and walled garden have been shared for the Isle of Tiree by Denizen Works, centred on a vaulted open-plan living space with panoramic views.
Set within a rural opportunity area land East Of Harbour House at Milton Harbour has been earmarked for an air-tight timber kit house that is respectful of traditional white-painted houses.
The chosen site occupies a 6m strip of shoreline with unrestricted views out to sea, accommodating separate sleeping and social wings of accommodation linked to a separate boathouse by a walled garden.
A varied materials palette will define each of these elements with living areas given a stone base and feature chimney under a black bitumen roof. This will be joined by a corrugated metal bedroom wing a bold red corrugated metal boatshed with painted timber cladding.
A detailed planning application for An Duin Boathouse is expected shortly.
