Tomatin Distillery courts the public with a new visitor centre

Tomatin Distillery, situated between Aviemore and Inverness, is undergoing a major programme of expansion headlined by a new visitor centre.

Placing the distillery on the tourist map the design by Colin Armstrong Architects will sit in front of a new bus drop off point and public car park, all surrounded by a landscaped 'village green'.

Explaining the choice of steel and timber the architects wrote: "The proposed elemental raw materials have been specifically selected to compliment the surrounding industrial environment and provide a focal point for the entire Tomatin distillery campus. It is considered these also speak to the surrounding rugged environment in which the campus is located."

The visitor centre forms part of a broader upgrade programme for the distillery including a new head office building warehousing and an expansion of on-site bottling capacity to service growth.
