Edinburgh's latest student housing development has gone public with an exhibition of proposals for New Waverley by Vitas Group.

Combining affordable housing and commercial units the mixed development completes the Caltongate masterplan with a C-plan block finished in sandstone, white render and zinc.

In a statement, Vita wrote: "We have taken on board comments received at the first public consultation event and progressed with more detailed designs. Design review is however ongoing, and will be informed by comments made to this second exhibition."

The updated plans draw on feedback from an earlier consultation to include a reduction in height with blue and green roofs designed to retain water and reduce runoff rates. Roof-mounted solar panels will also be installed and a bike store enlarged.

A planning application by CDA is expected next month.
