‘Pavilion villa’ apartments headed for Thorntonhall
7N Architects acting on behalf of CALA Homes have tabled plans to build a pair of ‘pavilion villa’ apartment blocks and three detached houses in Thorntonhall, South Lanarkshire, as part of a wider residential development of 53 detached homes.

Formed from buff-tone brick below grey cement particle board penthouses the 24 flats will be linked by two rows of garages conceived as ‘linear garden walls’ within the landscape. Each house meanwhile will adopt a vernacular pitched roof form.

In their design statement the architects said: “The two buildings vary in height and their massing has been developed to include a recessed top storey to reduce visual impact within the surrounding landscape context, and to surrounding houses.

“Balconies will be provided to each apartment formed as deep recesses in the brickwork facades that will give quality of depth to the articulation of the facades.”

Landscape work will see homes arranged around a series of linked ‘garden rooms’ and shared surface courtyards.

Disappointed by 7N. Looks 'incredibly' similar to the apartment blocks by Queensberry in Morningside or Ellersley Road.
Modern Resi schemes are really struggling for identity...far to much cribbing.
At least it ain't Dandara bad...
