Steelwork rises at new East Ayrshire Primary
East Ayrshire Council is pressing ahead with construction of Whatriggs Primary and Early Childhood Centre following a ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of on-site works by Morrison Construction.

Keppie won the design commission after enhancing the council's in-house design for a £12.4m school that will merge rolls at the current Bellsfield and Kirkstyle Primaries by August 2017.

Council leader Douglas Reid commented: “The design is being led by the council’s facilities and property management in close consultation with headteachers, Diane MacKinnon and Sean Maddocks; experts from our early years team and the education programme team.

“This ensures that the school will provide the very best accommodation for our young people with the team giving consideration to furniture, play equipment, quiet spaces and technology, among many other practical issues.”
