October start date set for Johnstone town hall
Work to deliver a new £14.5m town hall in Johnstone is to move on site with Renfrewshire Council pulling the trigger in October, following completion of site clearance works.

Designed to house a library, marriage suite, theatre, conference space and café the new facility will double as council offices as well as a base for Police Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Support.

This will be augmented by extensive landscaping and public realm work to the area around Ludovic Square.

Councillor Jim Harte, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s sport, leisure and culture policy board, said: “The council is making a significant investment in delivering this new building, which will provide a striking 21st-century centrepiece to the town.

“This new building is one of the biggest public sector investments taking place in Scotland at the moment.”

Designed by Renfrewshire Council and delivered by Holmes Miller the project is being delivered by BAM Construction via Hub West Scotland and is pencilled in for completion by spring 2015.
