Saltire Award shortlist revealed
Jurors at this years Saltire Awards, a scheme set up to recognise the best new housing in Scotland, have whittled down nearly 70 entrants to settle on a 29 strong shortlist.

Panel chair Dick Cannon said: “The shortlisted buildings are a rich variety of beautifully conceived and executed projects covering all of the regions of Scotland, which tackle the challenges of boosting local economies, carbon reduction, inner city innovation, reuse and adaptation and which demonstrate that design quality remains high in spite of the economic conditions.”

Awards panel convener Jane Paterson added: “The projects we selected for shortlisting provided exemplary contextual responses to their environments and innovative solutions to their clients’ briefs. The shortlist represents a wide range of site conditions, some very challenging.

“Some projects have exceptional sites, surely one of Scotland’s assets. The shortlist is diverse geographically, architecturally and in terms of scale. We believe it represents emerging quintessential qualities in contemporary Scottish architecture.”

Scottish Minister for Housing and Transport, Keith Brown MSP, will present the awards at a ceremony at Evolution House, Edinburgh on 4th September 2011.

What relation do the 17 photographs have with the shortlist of 12 on this page, and how does all that relate to the 29 strong shortlist alluded to in the article?

Unfortunately we don't have images for all 29... these pics were selected directly by the Saltire Awards team.

It's a CGI overlaid onto an old pic for Westfield Avenue. The bonded warehouse doesn't exist, and hasn't done so for probably a year or two.

The image credited as 4 Linsiader is in fact the Wormit Extension by WT Architecture - hope UR can correct this!

Tricky Dicky - The Westfield image is a CGI done at planning stage on an old(er) aerial. The warehouse is now a Sainsburys. We haven't got round to getting the balloon man out again to re-take it. There were plenty as-built photos submitted to the Saltire so I'm not sure why they are using this image.

Why is G. Devici hiding behind the Scott Sutherland name. Perhaps we should be told
