Job Title: DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

We are looking to appoint a creative and experienced Development Manager to join our Regeneration and Development team at an exciting time in the progression of the organisation. The successful candidate will take responsibility for a number of key, strategic development projects, managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver these projects.

Many of these projects are funded by multi-agency partnerships and involve funding agreements and conditions – the successful candidate will manage the projects in conjunction with the Project Manager, and to ensure all funding requirements are met. In addition, there will be requirements and opportunities to secure funding to enhance the projects and to deliver on new projects.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:
  • Providing design input on projects and project scoping through to project completion, working closing with Project Managers
  • Have a forward planning role in terms of securing further funding, dealing with funding partners and securing and monitoring funding agreements for 3 rd party funded projects
  • Involvement and ownership of fundraising bids, and coordinating and completing fundraising applications
  • Assisting the future strategy and direction of the Estates and Commerce Team and the Commercial Strategy and fundraising plan for Scottish Canals
  • Providing design input in projects right through from feasibility to completion
  • Coordinating charrette activities and stakeholder/community engagement
  • Undertaking project appraisals and project monitoring
  • Partnership working with stakeholders, both internal and external

The following skills are essential:
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Project management experience
  • Fundraising experience
  • Problem solving and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level or equivalent in an architecture/urban design discipline, however other professional qualifications such as development, surveying, or project management will also be considered as relevant.

The role is offered on a fixed term basis, from January 2018 for 18 months, however is likely to become permanent for the right candidate. Salary will be discussed at interview stage. Although the role is based in Glasgow, the successful candidate will have regular travel across Scotland therefore a valid UK driving license is essential.
