jmarchitects is a practice of highly creative and talented architects and designers.  Headquartered in Edinburgh, we have studios across the UK and employ over 100 people.

Role description: As bid coordinator you will be responsible for the management and coordination of all standard and bespoke documents used for bid submissions. Working with the other teams in the practice, often to tight deadlines, you will ensure the high standard of all submissions. As the successful candidate, you will possess excellent writing, organisational and time management skills. You will have a high level of initiative, be proactive and be able to communicate effectively.  The role will also require you to offer guidance on the format and content of submissions, identify potential opportunities through market research, and track and analyse bid success. Our normal working hours are 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and to 4pm Friday.

Key tasks:

  • You will manage the process for all pre-qualification questionnaires and formal invitations to tender, and assist with the collation of design competitions and interview presentations as and when required.
  •  You will be the liaison for all submissions across the practice. You will also be required to map their success and failure rates.
  • You will arrange and manage all documentation required for submissions in conjunction with our QA and other procedures.
  • You will actively assist the architects and coordinate resources to ensure all bids are proofread, are of high quality and are submitted on time.

Core personal skills desired:

  •  the ability to cope with conflicting demands, prioritise duties and work under pressure;
  •  a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • excellent written and numerical skills;
  • strong computer skills - advanced knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator would be of particular benefit;
  • a creative awareness of the written word, image and design;
  • a personable and approachable character with a flexible attitude and an articulate and diplomatic manner;
  • the ability to manage time and workload efficiently;
  •  a confident and proactive approach to daily tasks and the ability to be a team player.

If, in addition, you already have one or more of the skills or experience below, which we would be looking for you to develop in this role, you may wish to highlight this in your application:

  • strong creative thinking to produce new ideas and concepts to convey the design story in client submissions and presentations;
  • ability to ‘think outside the box’ for imaginative bid layouts;
  •  experience in bid-coordination, marketing or design-related field;
  • an understanding of, or enthusiasm for, architecture and design concepts;
  • a record of submission writing and text review;
  • other graphic design skills;
  • other relevant work experience.
