05 _ Sighthill Regeneration Masterplan, Glasgow

LDA Design is part of the collaborative design team working with Glasgow City Council to deliver the Sighthill Transformational Regeneration Area Masterplan. The consultant design team is led by Gardiner and Theobald Project Managers and includes Grontmij Engineers, who were appointed alongside LDA Design to support Glasgow City Council’s in-house design team in the delivery of the project which will be completed in 2019.

The masterplan aims to create a distinct new identity for Sighthill , defining it as a new “destination” within the wider Glasgow context. The masterplan focuses on the connectivity of the site with the city centre, adjacent areas such as the Port Dundas canal development and neighbouring areas such as Foutainwell. The team will lead the design of the masterplan infrastructure.

Working in conjunction with the City Council masterplanning team, LDA will be responsible for the design of;
  •  new ‘Civic Spine’ encompassing several new public realm gateway and plaza spaces;
  •  the design of new pedestrian routes, streetscapes and pathway links;
  • a series of new green spaces including a new linear park or ‘Green Spine’ incorporating a series of recreational uses and community allotments
  • the design of amenity spaces associated with a major network of water features as part of the proposed Sustainable Urban Drainage water management strategy
  • a new sports hub and associated recreational zone
  • a large amphitheatre space adjoining Port Dundas canal development
  • new woodland and other areas of natural habitat

Within the masterplan, a series of new public realm and bridge connections are proposed including a major new land bridge crossing the M8 motorway to link the Sighthill Regeneration are back to the City Centre.
