Usher Hall, Traverse & Lyceum Edinburgh
We were commissioned to design and supervise reconstruction of the stepped podium and public realm setting to the Usher Hall, Traverse and Lyceum Theatres including the re-paving of the Cambridge and Grindlay Streets. The Usher Hall is a category A-listed Beaux Arts building in the centre of a Conservation Area and World Heritage Site.
The design required construction and detailing to meet the demands of heavy goods vehicle access over re-designed granite sett surfaces and Caithness and sandstone paving surfaces to footways; the integration of DDA compliance in particular at-grade access to all three loggia entrances to the Hall, together with contemporary furniture and lighting providing the setting to a nationally important building.
We have provided full design, construction detailing, specification, supervision and technical support in a project manager-led design team with LDN Architects, Edinburgh as Lead Consultant and Contract Administrator.
