Collegelands Glasgow
A new urban district built up a derelict railway goods depot, Collegelands integrates new development into the historic urban grain in this burgeoning part of Glasgow.
Page\Park Architects and Ian White Associates jointly developed the mixed-use master-plan based upon 2 new streets within a network of public realm and green infrastructure. Offices, a hotel, multi-storey car park, residences and an existing grade B Listed Old School building accord to a rigorous urban morphology.
The spaces between are rich in pedestrian comfort; scale varies but the use of silver granite unifies 3 significant spaces have been built in Phase1. Havana Square marks the junction between the 2 new streets and is designed as a shared surface. College Garden is a sheltered green square enclosed by new buildings and free of vehicles. The canal is a linked series of linear SUDS, acting as a moat and landscape setting to the residential properties.
Following profound land remediation and the demolition of underground vaults, a new urban landscape has been created to bind together this attractive new quarter.
