James Watt Docks
City Design were comissioned by Riverside Inverclyde and Clydeport as part of the design team for the James Watt Dock Masterplan; an impressive mixed-use development occupying prime riverfront totalling in excess of 19.4 ha. and a 420 metre length of the former industrial riverside land. Following from the original masterplan comission, City Design were appointed and have recently completed the design and delivery of a key area of public realm space on behalf of James Watt Dock LLP. The scheme is a Phase 1 Implementation of the overall Masterplan, and the implemented project includes the creation of a new public square; "James Watt Square". This new public space is he primary open space within the masterplan and is a contemporary public realm frontage to the ‘A’ listed Sugar Sheds. A comprehensive package of public realm works have been compiled which also provided for the arrival of the ‘Tall Ships’ in 2011.
