Practice Statement
LDA Design is an independent, design, environment and sustainability consultancy, established in 1979 and with a professional team of over 130 people. Our work is concerned with addressing some of the biggest challenges that face communities across the globe. We help clients develop creative solutions shaped around economic, environmental and social objectives. LDA Design works across four sectors: Development & Regeneration, Public Realm, Energy & Infrastructure and Climate Change & Environment. Our key expertise includes:Our key expertise includes: masterplanning with urban design, development and regeneration strategies and frameworks, landscape architecture, city visions, climate change adaption and mitigation, sustainability and energy studies, public realm strategies, green infrastructure, environmental impact assessment and ecology.
Our aim is always to understand the place, to deliver the specific requirements of the client and the needs of the community. Each project is different by virtue of its unique location and our design response is equally thoughtful and appropriate.
This approach is driven from the top and the intellectual rigour of the leadership team is maintained by undertaking research projects and working on initiatives that are able to influence professional thinking and our involvement in organisations ranging from the Academy of Urbanism and CABE/Design Council to organisations such as the UK China Ecocities Group.
Our ultimate goal is always to deliver projects on the ground. For our clients this means achieving rapid and efficient planning consents, designing commercially successful and award- winning projects. Our track record speaks for itself. We work at every scale from new low-carbon cities in China to heritage restoration projects in Moscow and new sustainable communities in Cambridgeshire and Swindon. Our regeneration work includes some of the most recognisable and well known projects in the UK such as the masterplan for the World’s first man-made tidal energy lagoon in Swansea, the design and transformation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station.
