Practice Statement
Our aim is to produce contemporary architecture which is both fit for purpose and appropriate to its time and place. Over the last 15+ years the Practice has developed and refined a system of design and construction which delivers a Highland approach to sustainability. Natural and local materials and components are utilized throughout resulting in allergy free buildings, and multiple economic and environmental spin-off benefits for the region.
Two separate, but closely related companies - Neil Sutherland Architects LLP, an architectural consultancy, and MAKAR Ltd – an old Scots’ word for quality, creativity and workmanship – a specialist timber construction and project management business - operate together.
