Passenger demand fuels Edinburgh Airport Hotel expansion

A public consultation has been launched for a proposed extension to the Hampton by Hilton Hotel at Edinburgh Airport.

Ability Hotels with Leach Rhodes Walker Architects propose to extend the existing 3DReid build by adding a further 240 beds in a flanking block to provide additional peak season capacity.

To be delivered over two phases depending on traveller demand the new addition will follow the massing and materials template laid down by its neighbour within the grounds of Edinburgh Airport.

In a statement, the applicant wrote: "This is a highly sustainable location on which to focus further hotel development due to the extensive public transport network in the area including the airport bus and tram network being approximately 500m from the hotel as well as nearby rail links.

"The wider site has already been substantially developed to accommodate the existing hotel building."

A formal planning application is likely by the end of the year.
