Historic Kirkintilloch school set for housing role

A historic school designed by Honeyman & Keppie in 1897 is to be transformed with the delivery of 15 homes.

St Agatha's Primary School on Gartshore Road, Kirkintilloch, will be sensitively remodelled for its new use, retaining period features as part of the conversion to apartments with new build brick and render houses earmarked for the former playground.

Led by Panacea Homes the development will see the unlisted schools classrooms, sports hall and offices converted to provide six apartments that retain vaulted ceilings, timber eaves and original stonework.

Ross McMillan of Panacea Homes said: “We are delighted to be announcing the opening of our show home in this stunning location, the renowned ‘Canal Capital of Scotland’.

“At The Primary we have endeavoured to create a stunning and unique development, whilst ensuring respect is paid to the traditional styling of the former much-loved school."

Led by GD Lodge Architects the work will necessitate lowering cill levels and includes the installation of metal clad dormers and window surrounds.

You just know it's rubbish, when you see cheap fencing and bins. Can't you just do better?!
