Boardroom shakeup precipitates Edinburgh Business Gateway rethink

Drum Property Group has added its weight to New Ingliston, founding partner of the West Edinburgh Development Partnership, to progress a 'transformational development' on 205 acres of land near Edinburgh Airport.

The developer has agreed to take an equity stake and management role in New Ingliston which will see it take on the management of both the company and future development of the planned International Business Gateway on behalf of the board.

The reorganisation will see Drum Property managing director Graeme Bone join existing board members alongside property veterans Alan Robertson and Eric Young under chairman Sir Bill Gammell.

This follows the recent retirement of Roddie Paterson after 26 years as managing director of New Ingliston.

Bone said: “This is a once-in-a generation opportunity for Drum to deliver a development site that has the potential to play a fundamental role in Scotland’s economic recovery and ongoing development for decades to come. To have the support of such an inspiring and experienced Board provides a unique platform to look at the site with a fresh perspective and energy as the country emerges from the challenges of lockdown.”

Planning in principle has already been awarded to a 7N Architects masterplan for the gateway.

@Niambh : it's in the Edinburgh LDP. It sits next to the airport and across from RBS Gogarburn. It'll create jobs and wealth. It's in a sandwiched section of undeveloped land between West Craigs, Cammo and the airport. It's next to a busy A route and has planes flying over it. Where else do you suggest Edinburgh expands, if not here??
