Pod offices go mainstream as workers stay at home

A housebuilder is meeting occupier demand for home office solutions by teaming up with Livingston-based garden pod provider urbanpods.

CALA Homes is offering stay at home residents the chance to kit out their gardens with a customisable retreat. Each Siberian larch timber clad pod is delivered fully plastered and ready for occupation with powerpoints, heating and sliding entrance doors.

Ross Iwaniec, director at urbanpods, said: “We’ve seen enquiries for our pods dramatically increase over the past few months, so it makes complete sense to give those buying new build houses the opportunity to have a pod installed right from the word ‘go’. They’re the ideal solution for anyone who needs additional workspace but wants to keep work life and home life separate.

“Not only are they great spaces for home offices, but they also make luxurious home salons for those working in hair and beauty; pilates, yoga and gym studios for fitness enthusiasts; or cosy media and gaming rooms.”

A 'show pod' illustrating the potential has been installed at Kinnaird Lee in Larbert.

Decent enough home office product, given the full Housewives of Larbert CALA makeover.
Naff, as per.

How do these pods get round the combustibility issue on the boundary? Presumably by including heating, it requires a Building Warrant, or at least that's what my local authority advised.

Couldn't Cala just... make their homes less measly internally so people would have space for a home office?
