Renewed developer interest extends Haymarket Yards evolution

The rapid evolution of Edinburgh's Haymarket area remains in full flow with developers London & Scottish and GSS Developments teaming up to fulfil the transport hubs potential.

22 Haymarket Yards, a 0.43-acre derelict site close to the railway station, has changed hands in a £1.62m deal for an as-yet-unspecified future use by its new owners.

With planning consent for 91 student rooms from McLean Architects already in the bag, the site is well placed to accommodate a variety of uses subject to ongoing conversations with planners.

Andy Richardson, group development director at London & Scottish, said: “... recent developments in the surrounding buildings mean that there may be other attractive uses for the site. We intend to discuss the possible options with Edinburgh City Council in due course."

Haymarket Yards has become a development hotspot driven by proximity to Edinburgh Airport and mainline rail access to Newcastle and Glasgow.

Is it going to be called the shoehorn? No sense of space.
