Ryder build a low carbon future at Queensferry High

Ryder Architecture has delivered a low-carbon future for secondary education with the delivery of a new Queensferry High School for Hub South East Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council.
The 14,185sq/m campus was funded by the Scottish Futures Trust to provide research and analysis of low carbon measures implemented early in the design stage - such as considering the design in phases to enhance the building performance.
Incorporating a six-lane pool, fitness centre and outdoor pitch the school has also been designed to sit well within its semi-rural context.
Matt Haggerty, architectural director at Ryder said: “The project is the result of a great collaborative design and delivery process with a fantastic and dedicated team which has created a superb new education facility and learning environment with community accessible elements in the heart of Queensferry”.
Built on the playground of the previous school phase two works will now see the old building demolished to accommodate a new landscaping strategy, which should be in place by next summer.
