Cathcart council depot in line for 55 flats

Westpoint Homes, Haus Barton Willmore have been appointed to bring forward designs for 55 flats on 0.55ha of land off Greenholme Street, Cathcart, as part of the disposal of a former council yard by City Property.

A proposal of application notice signals intent to transform the former council depot through the construction of three residential blocks arranged around a central communal courtyard, establishing a green network connecting to nearby Holmlea Park and allotments.

Designed to reinstate the street edge while maximising open aspects for residents the development seeks to establish a 'liveable' balance between urban density and green space.

In a statement, Barton Willmore wrote: "The current proposals are to deliver buildings of 5 storeys in height to respect the general scale and massing in the area. Materiality is yet to be determined in terms of the external facade, but careful consideration will be given to ensuring that the proposals respect the existing buildings."

A detailed planning application is expected shortly.

Good luck with getting those single aspect flats through planning.
