A development of 54 homes for social and mid-market rent is underway in Alloa with Marshall Construction moving on-site with a mix of bungalows, houses and cottage flats at Elm Grove.

Led by Kingdom and Ochil View Housing Associations the scheme will form a street-front perimeter around a central open space and car parking, with new cycle routes knitting into surrounding development and 'distinctive corners' to add visual interest.

Kingdom Group chief executive Bill Banks said: “Marshall Construction has designed the units to meet our high design standards and the specification will include various sustainability features."

Replacing Clackmannanshire Council flats which were demolished 16 years ago the scheme has been designed to meet the needs of older people, families and wheelchair users.

I think there is another typo in the quote from Bill Banks, he says someone has "designed" them...??

Well at least they are in keeping with the 1960s housing surrounding the site.
There's a virtually identical group of white mono-pitch render-plus-cladding council houses a mile from me. Built in 1964 as I recall, but to a better design standard and hence still popular.

Interesting to note the existing housing making a supreme effort to blend in with the new development by transforming themselves into white rendered blocks. No one wants to stick out like a sore thumb do they? Or is it just architectural 'licence' putting on some estate agents cosmetic 'gloss' to sell the scheme?
